A Rant Thread - Speed Demon - 07-12-2008 Im just having a bitch because my bike fell over the other day because i havent done the stand mod. Snapped the lh mirror off $129.00 Dented the tank coz it fell on to a gearbox it was parked near(work in wrecking yard) Scratched lh engine cover, lh fairing, lhr tail end Im overr it now but at the time i f*#kin went right off in front of a customer and had to leave it there whislt i served him. Feel free to have a bitch if you wish RE: A Rant Thread - bigfoot - 07-12-2008 i feel sorry for ya mate i would not have been very happy, did you have to keep serving the customer before you could pick up your beloved machine, that would have pissed me off more, good luck with repairs mate!!!! Dude, i feel your pain, i havent done the stand mod yet either, so far been lucky, must get to it one day. I would imagine that you wont be the last one that this happens too. Hope your insured ? RE: A Rant Thread - bassmaniac69 - 07-12-2008 Man, I know how you feel!!!! Mine dropped last week with only owning it for 4 days, fark it!!! And I was going to do the mod to the stand this weekend!! I got off a bit lighter than you though - just mildly scratched each panel a little and the mirror. I've covered it up with "magic wax" but will eventually replace each panel. What colour are you? RE: A Rant Thread - Volvi - 08-12-2008 ermm 9 yrs and still havent done the mod but did drop it first few months coz of stand. Once youve done that pain you never leave the bike not locked into first gear and hasnt happened since. Almost a ritual when parking, ignition switch off, make sure in first gear, push bike forward till locked, then extend side stand as pushing bike in gear, kick side stand forward making sure fully extended and lean down gently, the bike is going no where after that ritual. RE: A Rant Thread - Speed Demon - 15-01-2009 You would think with all the electronic wizardry that the clock would factor in daylights saving in perth RE: A Rant Thread - BUSGO - 15-01-2009 You need to go into your profile and set the switch. RE: A Rant Thread - Slade - 15-01-2009 Is this mod recommended on Gen 2's? OR was/is this a gen1 mod only? Sucks you hurt your beauty :| RE: A Rant Thread - Driller - 15-01-2009 A very painful experience indeed happened to me four years ago left it parked on gravel & running no stand mod $2500 damage in respray ect I believe they haven't changed the stand angle on the gen2's Mark RE: A Rant Thread - Louwai - 15-01-2009 I've never done the mod & have never dropped it. I'm like Volvi. I have a ritual. 1) ALWAYS park the bike facing up hill. No matter what. 2) Extend the side stand 3) Lean the bike over so the weight is on the stand 4) Drag bike backwards a little to make sure the stand is locked forward 5) Hop off bike. I always park mine in neutral. No reason, just a habit. RE: A Rant Thread - humbussa - 15-01-2009 Volvi Wrote:ermm 9 yrs and still havent done the mod but did drop it first few months coz of stand. RE: A Rant Thread - bassmaniac69 - 15-01-2009 I've also gotten into the habit of putting my left foot on the bottom of the stand while getting off to secure it a bit more and then do the "make sure it's not going to f%$king fall over" dance and so far so good since the initial fall! RE: A Rant Thread - Champs - 15-01-2009 I'm with you on the left foot bit bassmaniac69. Gives confidence when lowering that all is in place. RE: A Rant Thread - bigfoot - 16-01-2009 if i used my foot to kick the stand out it woud most likely fly off and then i wont be able to stand my bike now where are my workboots!
