A rant.........cyclists. - 1hotbusa - 01-12-2008

Hi there,

Big Rant coming up...........Coffee2

Fugen Cyclists. What a pain in the ass they were on the weekend. They think they are so special, and can take up the whole road no matter what. After getting stuck behind multiple groups of cyclists bringing the bikes back, the last lot going through Bredbo were the last straw.

They were plodding through Bredbo at the unheard of speed of 20km/hr. Kathy was driving, and without engaging low ratio we had run out of gears. So we troll along behind, in first gear, while I imagine us going over the top, when the support vehicle/road block decides to move left.

Kathy, like a trooper, hits the gas and gets us alongside the support vehicle, then the bikes move out into the middle of the road again. I have the window down and so does the other driver in the support vehicle.

We were doing less than 20 km/hr, when he yells across to me to slow down. I yell back, "Get off the Fugen Road, idiot" He waved his arm, but by then we were past and feeding the mighty diesel the berries.

They dont pay rego, so stuff em. At the end of the day they are wheeled pedestrians, and bringing a national road to a crawl just to work off some fat is stupid. After all god gave us two feet to operate a gearshift and a brake pedal.Lol3

OK, Rant over.

RE: A rant.........cyclists. - Champs - 01-12-2008

I can understand your frustration. Keep in mind also that car drivers get annoyed by motorcyclists, truck drivers hate car drivers, and we all (well me at least) hate the loud fart in a bucket noise making hardleys. It's all a matter of position and perception.

Being a cyclist as well, I tend to disagree with the take over the road approach of large groups. I could understand it for major events, but road closures are more the norm there. Having said that, even riding as a single cyclist I have come across actions from car drivers that border on homicidal and not always just because they don't know how dangerous their actions are. Some of the events have been quite deliberate. The same things directed towards motorcycles or cars would not be taken lightly by those subjected to it I suspect.

On rego - I pay 5 lots of rego, and then I also ride a bike. I think I do my share there, and you would find that bugger all of the cyclists are non-rego payers in one way or the other.

Hopefully the large group thing doesn't become more frequent and it is a disruption we have to endure only on the odd occasion. Large groups of motorcycles on organised rides can be just as much of a pain to general traffic as well.

Assholes the lot of them, they were a pest all weekend.
The cyclist were plesant enough the the Fktards in support vehicles thought they were a law unto there own Knuppel2

Park the car across the road in front of them and see how they take it.....

i don't mind sharing the road with anyone as long as we all work by the same rules...

RE: A rant.........cyclists. - DjPete - 02-12-2008

I have noticed that riders without lycra (unprofessional riders) in general are ok.
Its the pro riders that have this weird attitude that they are coming through regardless and you are a fuckwit...a real aggressive attitude.

Thats what I have found and i am usually pretty fair on the road.

Cyclist should be just banned from the road - just a pain in the arse. (fullstop) They might pay rego for thier cars or motor bikes but no rego for their bicycles so that argument is shit - be ok if they didnt think thier shit dont stink ... but they do and they are sweaty and smelly to boot

They should create a lane for cyclists like they do in European countrys.Holland is a perfect example, its their lane and they are prosecuted/fined if they break laws or if at fault accidents occur.Maybe one day!!!

RE: A rant.........cyclists. - Gassick - 02-12-2008

Everytime I go out a cyclist brakes the law. Example, last weekend "The Woman" and I are out for a cruise, stopped at a red light in Gratten st Carlton heading towards Elizabeth st (For Melbournians) and shore enough a lycra clad cockhead without even blinking goes straight through the red light. When the light turns green I catch up to him get as close as safely possible to him and just as I right next to him I give the horn a blast and quick burst of revs at the same time. Needless to say I frightened the living crappers out of him. We get to the Elizabeth st intersection where we're stopped by the red light and sitting behind a bus ready to turn left with the green arrow, this cockhead goes up onto the footpath and gets back onto the road in front of the bus. The turning arrow turns green and guess what? He wants to go straight ahead but he has the red light so all who were going to turn left had to wait for the green signal. 98% of push bike riders are absolute morons, the day Mr Plod starts fining the cockheads the sooner they'll start obeying the road rules.

I recall once when I was in the ute. A slow vehicle in front & a cyclist coming the other direction.
The cyclist was well off the side of the road away from the bituman, so I moved out to overtake the slow vehicle.
The cyclist obviously didn't like me doing that because straight away he moved out onto the bitumen & right in my path.

Arrogant f***.

RE: A rant.........cyclists. - Dan85 - 02-12-2008

personally i enjoyed watching the large groups of cyclists riding on Herveys range road and development road out the back of townsville. Mix 4 trailer road trains with 100kph speed limit and groups of cyclists doing 20-30kph(with the bad cyclist attitude) things get ammusing because as some of you know road trains in rural north queensland wouldnt swerve for a abram tank coming at them let alone a group of cyclists, then chuck in cyclists seemingly wish to die and you will get a laugh

RE: A rant.........cyclists. - GiddyUp - 02-12-2008

Popcorn I had to bite on this sensitive topic.

Now that I'm clocking up nearly 10 000 klms a year on a pushbike. (More that most of the Busa club members clock up on their Busa's)
I have to go into bat for the cyclists. Nah! F*#k it. I hate them too....Roll
Some good comments above. Some real funny ones too.
But seriously. Does my arse look big in my CSC Team Lycra?

Plus 1 what gassick said, you manoeuvre past these tossers in heavy traffic then at the next red light they disregard all the road rules go past you, through the red light so they can slow everyone down all over again. Fair enough to go around them once but once past them they should only pass me at the lights if they can go faster than my car when that light goes green.

RE: A rant.........cyclists. - cheeky - 02-12-2008

my gripe is when they ride 2 to 3 wide in an 80km zone when there is a perfectly fine bike track right beside them.its new and made of bitumen.
then they meet up for coffee at local bakery on sundays leave their bikes and gear all over sidewalk.now these lycra wearing yuppies ticked me off one too many times.i did too them what they did too me.i over took them in the car then slowed to a crawl they could not pass me because of traffic comming the other way.it was too funny seeing the frustration on their faces.
motorbike mates of ours one sunday decided too do the same thing as the yuppies.they parked their bikes on the foot path and left jackets and helmets everywhere.they said they where getting comments from the pushies people, the guys just laughed it off and said well payback sucks.
