180,190,200 shinko/MT - AntsBuza - 27-08-2008

Might not be in the correct section.
But it's related to drag racing.

Anyone tried different sized tyres.
180 - 190 - 200.

Iv'e read that the 180 gives a better foot print than the bigger tyres.

Is a MT worth the extra $$ compared to a Shinko?

RE: 180,190,200 shinko/MT - REVIT13 - 28-08-2008

i've heard the same about the 180.

where's the best place for the MT and $$. they claim no burnout required and long tire life with a consistency about them.

RE: 180,190,200 shinko/MT - spamanglenn - 28-08-2008

After the very first burnout with a mickey you lose cold grip, they only work hot or you,ll smoke it even on a prepped track.I,ve done 30 runs so far on my one and its still got a bit left in it.I d agree they are consistent. If you ride them on the road you, wear it out in a few hundred k,s though so strictly for trailored bikes in winter.About 340 bucks is what i paid.I,d just run a shinko ultrasoft in winter so you can road ride a bit more.I,m not turbo or stretched so thats why i,m prob getting better life than i was told.

I run the 200 shinko ultrasoft have done for a while and happy with it, our Wednesday nights can be like ice skating a 200 may be costing me a bit of drag but its better than no grip Biker

RE: 180,190,200 shinko/MT - gsx1395 - 28-08-2008

hi all

i have tried the 180 and the 190 shinko and i reckon the 190 gives a far bigger footprint, altough i use a full tyre a meeting because of burnouts. i will be trying the 200 this weekend at our title meet. as for the M/T, we run them on my brothers bike and have he had some problems in darwin with blowing the tyre away.
if your interested my brother is doing 9.7s @ 146 and he would be around the 85kg mark and i run 10.2 @ 139 and i am @130kg without gear

RE: 180,190,200 shinko/MT - AntsBuza - 28-08-2008

Iv'e tried the 200 and the 190 shinko ultra soft.
Didn't notice alot of difference.

Might try the 180.

As for the MT iv'e been told on a turbo bike only get about 10 runs and thats it.

RE: 180,190,200 shinko/MT - abusa - 28-08-2008

The 180 was the hot ticket when there werent tyres like the Shinko or the Mickey. Aim was to stretch the tyre so that it had a flatter profile. With these new tyres I feel there is less of a reason to go to to the 180. I ran a 180 on my Busa with limited results, on the street it word turn in better but would let loose with too much throttle.

The 190 looks to have the flattest profile of the Shinkos that I have seen but they could of changed it.

GSX your brother wouldnt happen to be Leith would it?

RE: 180,190,200 shinko/MT - REVIT13 - 28-08-2008

i just noticed on the schnitz site that there is a new shinko 003 ultra soft in 190 & 200.

the reason i mentioned 180 is that the 1000 cc comp bike racers use these. the 55 series profile may help there gearing.
spaman is your mt a slick or the mcr2?

003 ultra soft is what I run, they don't last as long as the normal ones but still last a lot longer than the MT's

RE: 180,190,200 shinko/MT - Gnarbunkle99 - 03-09-2008

Yes sir but the MT sticks like poo to a blanket, the spa man has written it on the wall with his record breaking time slips , ya cant argue with numbers.

Also heard the 190 003 has the largest footprint.

RE: 180,190,200 shinko/MT - spamanglenn - 03-09-2008

MT mcr2.Pi_thumbsup

RE: 180,190,200 shinko/MT - gsx1395 - 04-09-2008

used the shiko 200 003 over the weekend, first run blew the tyre right through to fourth but still did mid 10. i seems to me that the 190 003 gives a bigger footprint than the 180 003, 200 003 and the MT MCR2. i must say the 200 did not wear any where as much as the 190's do. generally i use up a 190 in 12 - 15 passes, however i did 7 over our title weekend and the 200 is only just starting to wear.
