TRE - BUSABAZZ - 11-08-2008 I purchased one of these TRE's from ebay the other day, got it from the U.S for a measly $35.00 (postage included), i thought it might do for a start until i get myself a gear indicator, then i'll get a proper one, the thing is i've recently read that these are a bit dodgy and are pretty much home made and can screw things up a bit due to malfunction. Has anyone ever bought a TRE like this one? What are your honest opinions? Cheers ![]() Stay upright ![]() [attachment=3561] RE: TRE - rb3221 - 12-08-2008 I have fitted a few or the checkedflag one's as well a lot of the Ivan's never had any go wrong. Never got them of Ebay, but that look like the same RE: TRE - BUSGO - 12-08-2008 I had one of them on my 99 model and never had any dramas. It worked well. Just make sure you plug it in securely and try to locate the plastic tube section somewhere in the cavity gap behind the engine where it will stay as cool as possible. RE: TRE - Pommie - 12-08-2008 I had one for a while with no problems RE: TRE - Rev004 - 12-08-2008 Fellars being new to the electronic world of bikes and not having a carbied bike like the GSXR1100 I see all the new things poping up and being discussed like the TRE etc. What exactly does the TRE do and what are the benefits. You will have to bear with me as I'm still getting up to speed with all the lingo as I haven't been keeping up with the latest mod cons like I have done in the past so still researching a lot of things. RE: TRE - cAstAgeAr - 12-08-2008 The .ORG saves the day, have a read of this Nearly everything ya wanted to know -, ABOUT THE ATRE/TRE/GPACK w/pro & con RE: TRE - BUSABAZZ - 19-08-2008 Thanks guys for the handy info, i got the TRE yeasterday arvo and installed it today, i've read some posts where some of you say that you didn't really notice much difference..... well dip me in honey and throw me to the lesbians because i just got back from a test ride and i sure did notice a difference, first 3 gears i found it difficult to keep the front wheel on the deck ![]() ![]() So thanks again all of you ![]() Stay upright ![]() RE: TRE - Louwai - 20-08-2008 Any pics & info of doing the fit????? Would be good to add to the DIY section........ RE: TRE - steventh - 20-08-2008 Hi Katanaan, Is your TRE the auto or standard - from the price I guess its the standard. If it is the standard how is your bike at idle, some find that it is a rougher idle than when the TRE is not fitted. Also, have you noticed any appreciable difference in fuel consumption? Thanks Steventh RE: TRE - BUSGO - 20-08-2008 A TRE doesn't change any fuel usage to speak of and fitting is simply a matter of lifting the tank, unplugging the Gearbox sensor lead, sticking the two ends of the TRE plugs in line and replacing the tank. A TRE works best on the 99 - 00 models. A lesser benefit is felt on the later models that have slightly modified ECUs. The idle fluctuation issues can be easily managed by the idle adjuster screw on the 99 - 00 models (located down near the oil filler hole) and is more of an issue for the bikes without the remote adjuster fitted. It was removed on the later models. A gen 1 busa should always idle at between 1050 and 1150rpm so that the fuelling is set right. RE: TRE - BUSABAZZ - 20-08-2008 I have only noticed a very slight change at idle but only with cold starts really, once she warms up it's not noticable, the revs are about what BUSGO said somewhere between 1050 - 1150, i'm not sure whether it has anything to do with the fuel remapping and high flow air filter or not? No extra fuel consumption noticed at all. One thing i did notice though as said in my previous post, that i've had better throttle response and it seems to rev higher more rappidly, not like before where it seemed to take a bit to get close to redline, i have also noticed it's smoother and not as jerky when you off the throttle then get back on it at slower speeds and lower gears, so yeah you could say i'm pretty happy with it for now. Next fitment (when i can afford it) is a speedo healer. Sorry, i didn't take any pics, but once again like BUSGO said it's pretty simple, just remove the seat, then remove the two allen bolts/screws holding the tank in place, and prop it up with something, in my case a plastic 1.25L coke bottle with the lid on standing upright against the the front edge, on the left hand side behind the frame rail you'll find a white connector (under the main loom), just unplug it and install the TRE, the plugs can only go one way so no need for further fitting instructions there, just be careful that the fuel line doesn't kink when lowering the tank. Some of the guy's are finding between 10 and 15 missing pony's from the B-King's very restricted 2nd gear. RE: TRE - Tony Nitrous - 21-09-2008 Tony Nitrous Wrote:For the Gen2 guy's.......... RE: TRE - spamanglenn - 22-09-2008 i always thought the stock bking was soft down low.Its great to see its not a byproduct of the new engine design more just a governed ignition retard.Unlease the beast and let our throttle hands decide how many miles we get out of a rear tyre.Just hope you don,t starve the bike of oil with too many wheelies. The oil pickup is at the front of the sump after all. RE: TRE - BUSGO - 22-09-2008 Now thats a TRE worth considering for the GEN II. Thanks Tony. |
