Doohan, Gardner & Mamola riding at the Island - Rev004 - 03-08-2008
Well for you guys going to the Island this year you will have a display by the our Aussie greats Doohan and Gardner on a CBR1000RR and a US great Mamola on his Ducati
Three premier class trailblazers will be on-track at Phillip Island in October, as part of the Australian Grand Prix experience.
Frequent attendees of MotoGP races after their retirement from racing, three former premier class stars will be riding once more at the Australian Grand Prix weekend. Mick Doohan, Wayne Gardner and Randy Mamola may not be competing in the race itself at Phillip Island on October 5th, but they will certainly be causing a stir when they undertake a series of demonstration laps in front of the Aussie fans.
MotoGP Legends and local heroes, Doohan and Gardner will be lapping the Island with a Honda CBR10000RR Fireblade, whilst Mamola will be using Ducati machinery. The trio are raring to perform in front of what promises to be a packed grandstand, as Gardner enthuses.
`Phillip Island was always such an amazing place to race and to have the opportunity to get on a bike again in front of the tremendously passionate Aussie crowd down there is an experience I´m very much looking forward to,´ says the 1987 World Champion -the first to hail from Australia.
`The Phillip Island circuit holds such great memories for me, and winning the first two Australian Grands Prix was very special.´
The trio will take to the track on the Saturday and Sunday of the Antipodean event, and Australian Grand Prix Corporation CEO, Drew Ward, has emphasised the honour of giving another ride to the stars of 80s and 90s competition.
`I encourage anyone with a passion for sport to join us at Phillip Island in October as we relive a bit of history and salute these legends of the sport with this very special demonstration ride,´ said Mr Ward.
`Not only will it be an extraordinary spectacle for race-goers, but it will also present a unique opportunity for Mick, Wayne and Randy to acknowledge the tremendous support they received throughout their careers from their loyal Australian fans.´
As ever, the threesome will be out and about in the Phillip Island paddock between rides, including stints at the autograph stage.

Yeh maybe Mick might elbow gardner when doing the circiut.
