New Member Introduction - Rootsie - Rootsie - 26-07-2008

G'day Volvi and all other members,

Just joined up today having found the site whilst trying to find out information about throttle locks, but that’s another subject.

I moved to Australia permanently, from the UK, last November and picked up my new ‘busa a month ago. Yes, it’s the white one, but I like it! I previously owned a K3 limited edition black ‘busa, which I bought new, but some ‘tealeaf’ (thief) stole this from my locked garage in London when it was 13 months old. It’s probably being ridden around Europe now, because it was never recovered. Once the insurance company paid out I bought an R1, but always wanted another ‘busa, so new life, new bike.

The bike is pretty standard at the moment, although I’ve ordered a double-bubble screen so I can see the dials properly, I’m 6’4” and have to duck my head to see them and with the cops being so hot on speed, it helps to have an idea what you are doing. Bought a dodgy number plate though, ABU54, just in case car drivers are wondering what just went past them! I know, sad bastard, but I can see from pictures on this site that I’m not the only one, thankfully.

So here I am living on the ‘Sunshine’ Coast, now renamed the ‘Rainsfine’ Coast by me, desperately waiting for some good weather to go for a blast. No, I’m not scared of the wet, get real; I come from the UK for god’s sake, but just prefer nice weather!

Don’t know that many people up here, so keen to ride if anyone is interested and lives reasonably locally. I am off next week with some friends from Brisbane, for a trip between the highways from here to Sydney, so that should be cool, in more ways than one.

Great to join a group of like minded people, look forward to keeping in contact.

Hey, before anyone mentions it, I know my username could possibly be considered a bit suss, but it was my nickname in the UK, where it wasn't and I like it!

Go the whites! It's good to see another K8 white running about. Congrats on the new bike, enjoy the road. Queensland has lots of roads to travel.

RE: New Member Introduction - Rootsie - Heidi1 - 30-07-2008

Hey Rootsie

I did the same thing. My first busa was stolen, so I bought an R1. I hated that damn thing for the year it took me to get another busa. My original busa ended up as the fastest dune buggy in Alice Springs. I hope yours is doing something similarly fun.

Welcome to the club.

Heidi

Hey Rootsie, didn't you know white ones are poof bikes?Lol2

Welcome bloke, Aussie rules, wait for Summer and you'll know why she's called a "Sunburt Country" - give your poor white skin a bit of a tan, some decent cold frothy beer (VB - Best beer in the bloody world!) and you'll wonder why it too you so long to get the hell out of old Blighty.

Welcome to both, Aussie and poof coloured Hayabusas Egyptian

You coming to Jindabyne in November?

Cheers

Gday Rootsie welcome to the club and the "Rainsfine Coast", it's been a bit like that lately, we're headed for the dry season so hopefully the sun will start shining soon, might see you on the road shortly.
