New White Busa in the Hunter - humbussa - 21-07-2008
Hi Guys,
nearly my first post i posted in the newcastle ride thread! but still new to this forum and my new K8 white, i came from a ZZR1100 but loving the Hayabusa....only done 1200k's in three weeks so still running her in?? but they say after about 1700 you can have a go....is that right? i've got a Ventura rack and bag and a set of Yoshi 22's cant bring myself to putting the rack on....it seems to spoil the look of the sext rear end! looking at a tankster bag but 2 months wait...anyway look forward to riding with you Hunter Valley guys and meeting you further away guys on the long runs ahead....

true the ventura rack dont do much for the look of the bus. i use an Ogio back pack if I need to carry. Lovely bike there and welcome to the club.

I had the rack set up on mine. I was happy enough. Sucks trying to carry the text books if I need them at work - they're just too bloody heavy! Hence I went the rack. Easy enough to remove and make sleek again if I need.
Just wish our weather would smarten up, its just grey and rain! I spend enough time cleaning the work cars as a result of the muck.
The seats being cut down today as I type, can't wait till my partner brings it home tonight. I'm excited.

hey i was considering getting the lower parts of the racl colour coded!!! also getting the seat stitched with the hayabusa logo! you getting any custome stuff done to the seat while it getting lowered?

That would make the lines flow a lot smoother! Good thinking.
No I'm not getting the seat customised this go, they're just putting the same black upholstery back on it, in case I want any changes done to this cut. But give me some time I've got my eye on a sweet pearlised white they have and offsetting it with the red or silver. The design, not sure yet I'm still thinking that one out.
Are you keeping the seat black? What colour stitching? For the moment I'm trolling the web for ideas :-)

I have the Ogio 2150, which is or was theyre top model, I dont think they make them anymore but some sales of them may be had from overseas. Ogio has a lifetime warranty and really is one of the best in these products. The 2150 can sure take alot but maybe a touch to big as when full will touch on the rear hump (duck tail) of bike. The strapping on the 2150 has to be the best around, it evenly distibutes the weight around ones body. And most importantly the zips are the toughest Ive seen.

Waterproof mate? i've been caught out in the rain previously and nothing worse than getting home and all your gear is soaked.

i believe so but cant swear on it. and depends how heavy the downfall. but I took mine up to jindabyne last year and was in heavy rain for a segment and was ok.

I was with Volvi that day and all my gear got soaked in my venture bags so his pack must be ok

Hi, I've just joined, but thought I'd add my bit. I've also had the Ventura rack fitted on my new white busa and the practicalities out way the aesthetics I reckon. I detach the back part of the rack when it's not needed and I can live with it. I'm a bit disappointed with the waterproof qualities of the Ventura bag though, anyone got any good ideas for keeping your stuff dry, other than a big plastic bag? Wouldn’t matter if the weather smartened up a bit, it’s almost like being back in the UK, from where I’ve recently moved! I’ve nicknamed the ‘Sunshine’ Coast where I live, the ‘Rainsfine’ Coast, it seems more apt!

Does an extra coating of waterproofing agent help with the bag or is it still leaking through the zips??? I've used either a paint on or spray on agent to waterproof swags and other gear.

Umm, why didn't I think of that, I'll try it today 'coz I'm off on a ride on Monday. You got any preferences for waterproofing stuff that you can recommend? Think I'll also still use the big plastic bag as well though. Thx for the welcome reply as well, may see you on the road sometime.

Some shoe repairers / upholsters sell a large aerosol of waterproofing agent. If not again try an upholsters for a liquid to paint on, or go to a horseland / horse - western shop as they should sell a liquid waterproofing agent.
I painted this stuff on my swag THICK and its been sitting in water in the back of the ute and it didn't bother it. The only place which lets down waterproofing is zips and stitches generally.
The aerosol is great on boots and clothing for extra waterproofing. Just read the destructions first to see if it might change the colour of lighter material colours. Usually I don't care, I need it waterproofed so it gets dunked!
