Cheesetensioner - GDYUP - 30-12-2005 Re: how easy is it to get hold of a manual tensioner and to put one on? my bikes got 860000 on the clock and wouldnt know if its been replaced or not, the recall has seemed to be done according to the pic in this thread. any advise is welcomed I threw the stock dodgy cam cahin tensioner away within the first 12 months. Now with over 80 000 klm it's still running sweet. (Petespitstop) But like every thing on this board and in this Club. There are the haves and the have nots........ The "it's no good" and the "best mod ever"!!! A wise man told me many years ago "NEVER WAKE UP A MUG"!!! So I'll reserve my opinion. But keep in mind my averages 500 klms a week all year round! The End. (again) Re: Cheesetensioner - rev 01 - 30-12-2005 Everyone was talking manual tensioners early on because the first recall didn't fix the problem & the risks were too great to ignore. Re: Cheesetensioner - Maj750t - 30-12-2005 The manual and the hydraulic tensioners are both better than the faulty types , hydraulic is set and forget , manual needs checking from time to time and can be stuffed up if adjusted without knowing some basics like whirring is too tight and rattling is too loose (i have trouble trusting factory trained mechanics with non std items) Re: Cheesetensioner - gazza414 - 31-12-2005 Exactly Maj Re: CCT - pan - 02-01-2006 Well, I called Suzuki last week, but all the people that knew about parts, warranties, recalls, etc were on holidays, so tomorrow (actually this morning after 9am) I start hounding them again . First issue is to make sure my chassis and engine number match up. I'm guessing that if they don't I won't be able to claim warranty on a motor that come off another bike . Second issue is that the CORRECT recalls were done. I have their documentation showing one recall for a CCT was done on 31/10/00, 4 days after the "second phase recalls" were issued. If I can prove they haven't done the second, or the one with the oil line out of it, then it becomes a legal battle . I'm hoping I can sort it all out tomorrow because I don't want a huge legal battle, but if that's what it takes, then I'll begin writing letters and CC'ing them to my company solicitor... Hope I don't have to go through dramas like Dave described... All else failing, I'll call Blackkat and arrange towing the beast to his operating tables (hope he takes Medicare )... Re: CCT - Blackzook - 03-01-2006 Pan, Good luck mate. If you need it moved let me know and I'll do it with my trailer. Im off work for a couple of months so no prob. The two of us can get it on and off no worries. I may be in the area and still have beer to deliver... Re: CCT - pan - 03-01-2006 ... or if you're around Marrickville, come over for lunch... Re: CCT - pan - 03-01-2006 Started the "procedure" today. Got to speak to the big boss at Suzuki Service this morning. Checked and made sure my chassis and engine are matching. I called again at 12pm but he didn't return my call, so rather than wait... I started the legal process. I have sent them a letter demanding immediate acceptance of liability and an undertaking to pay for repairs and costs... Have contacted my solicitor too, so may need to go the legal route. I'll keep you posted... Re: CCT - 1hotBUSA - 04-01-2006 You go get em Pan, Good Luck, hope they are jolted into action by the letter and the lawyers. Do you have an ally rear subframe by chance, they played the same line with them as they are with you for the CCT so this could set a precedent. We could barrage him with polite emails concerning their lack of customer support. As a club of long term Suzuki owners we should be able to apply a bit of pressure. ie Dear Mr ??? As a motorcyclist for the last 28 years and the owner of several Suzuki's I am disgusted by the lack of customer support provided by your organisation. etc. Bruce See here, young man, from Walgett to the sea, From Conroy’s Gap to Castlereagh, there’s none can ride like me. Banjo Paterson Re: CCT - we won!!! - pan - 04-01-2006 After faxing my letter yesterday (with CC to my solicitor), I got a call this morning from Suzuki boss-man saying his staff he needed to talk to were away until Monday... Ir eminded him that it looks like I was told recall was done and rode the bike endangering my life... He caled back 10 minutes later and said they accept liability. Bike will be towed to Suzuki at Kogarah and repaired at their expence. Victory to the people!!! "good times spent with friends at ridiculous speeds..." Re: CCT - we won!!! - pan - 04-01-2006 By the way Bruce, the letter I sent them was virtually a cut'n'paste of the one you drafted for me. I owe you... As if I didn't owe you enough already... Re: CCT - we won!!! - Blackkat - 04-01-2006 What am I going to do with this nos kit now? Good win for you Pan. Leonard. Re: Re: CCT - we won!!! - pan - 04-01-2006 Mine doesn't have the blue thing in front of the oil line either. I'll have to talk to you when I get my bike back... |
