Re: Twins - RaZ80 - 18-01-2007

yeah we get what ya saying - a mode switch aint going to ya fix some dick twisting the throttle too much - but aside from that - having a change in the mapping on the fly could have its use. ie: town mapping for better fuel range? cruise one maybe for long trips? power one for twistys & suck?

blah - till I ride one I can't pass judgment on if its a gimmick or not.

Auto gear box's.... mmmm, dont the motogp bikes have some auto shifter? getting close to auto "Busa riders always count in three's.... 100, 200, 300"

Jeez, I really need to drop by here more often..

Re: Twins - m8ee - 21-01-2007

Rod, if you had your way, all bikes would still have spoked wheels with drum brakes on them.

I am sure bikes were a much better thing - back in your day.

Quote:Heres your twin pipes in action.
At least it gives you something to scrape on each side.
They wouldn't scrape so much if the rider was sitting on top of the bike, and not lying down on the road next too it Chopper says "Harden the f*** up Australia"Edited by: m8ee  at: 21/1/07 7:36

Re: Twins - Maggot1300 - 21-01-2007

thats what I love about this board, drop in a line and watch em come swarming.

Re: Twins - AstroBusa - 21-01-2007

Yamaha-ha didn't put an auto gearbox on the big FJ, its an auto-shifter. Saves the rider from actually pulling in the clutch lever and flicking that left foot (Oh so tiresome eh ?) by doing it all for you. You flick the up or down switch and the clutch still gets engaged and released and the gear shift still happens but its all done by hydraulics - and it adds about 5kgs to the bike. Apparently its the same system as BMW uses on its M3.

Where will the gimmicks end ? Next you'll have a gas analyser unit built into the seat and every time you fart your cholesterol reading will pop up on the LCD screen and it'll make menu suggestions for you like... "Reduce fat intake" and "Suggest less leafy greens and more carbo's at next rest stop" or "That one was loaded, you need to stop and scrape out your undies". The older I get, the better I was. Regards.... Rob
