Re: Cam Chain - simmo - 24-12-2005 Quote:Before I bought my Busa, the word on the street was that they had an unbreakable engine. Pan and Wearlej would say otherwise Nothing is unbreakable, just give my kids something that is and I'll send it back to you broken, Pan's old camchain tensioner and eastern cr drags that will sort it out, it did with mine but I was lucky I pick up the rattle in the motor before it let go, Wearlej well sorry Brent but that busa bike has had more hits than Mike Tyson and spent a fair bit of time on its sides, including heaps of full on track days. It's a 2000 with the recall sticker on it, but I wouldn't recognised the mod if it was shitting in my face, - and I reckon I have that right side fairing off more often than anybody. He was very impressed with the busa. My bike has done just under 130,000km, has oil changes every 5,000kms and hasn't been over 180kph with me on it. Has done 240kph on the dyno though. I'd go along with the regular oil changes and stock motor not ever needing a CCT change. Re: Should never have to replace... - paladin au - 27-12-2005 hey guys sorry to hear what happened pan, a cct like all parts, it's life span will be dictated by how the bike is maintained, from what im told by the mechanics at springwood suzuki is that with regular oil changes and not thrashin the absolute crap outta it, there is no reason why it should'nt last for 80,000klms then again poor service history will shorten it's life, hope this helps Re: Should never have to replace... - Max - 27-12-2005 I bought mine 2nd hand. It had 24k on it. I've replaced oil every 6k along with the filter since. It has the oil line going to the can chain tensioner. Lee Davis owned it before me, don't know what maint he did on it. I did have the cam chain replaced at 27,507kays as it was rattling a lot. No rattling since. These things aren't bullet proof, they still have to be looked after. Some bikes (or cars) always get over looked for one reason or another when a recall is done. Re: Should never have to replace... - 1hotBUSA - 28-12-2005 Hi there, Pan, regardless of what Suzuki are saying if the CCT does not have the oil hose coming out of it then it is not the latest upgrade. My one has the oil hose coming out of it.....thank god. Lets just have a look at the logic of the argument that Suzuki are proposing here; They say that the bike has had the latest CCT fitted but that it was removed possibly after the bike was dropped. What was the logic in that. If the CCT was damaged during a drop then the whole bloody bike is cactus. If it wasnt damaged, then what is the logic of removing it if it was upgraded. Here's what I think; Spewzuki dont want to be liable for a motor. If you rang them up and asked for the CCT upgrade to be done and didnt mention the lunched motor they would have come to the party no questions asked as they did for Simmo. However because they have a lunched motor on their plate they are going to put up more obstacles than a straight man at a gay bar to avoid fixing the thing. Do your homework on the grenade kits if you decide to take that path. Some can be good, others can be a time bomb. Also allow for things like second batteries and beefed up components to handle it all. I'm sure your boss can fix you up with one for the price of a small car. Good luck Pan, let me know how you get on. Regards Graham 1hotBUSA 2000 Suzuki Hayabusa Red/Grey Bog standard except for bling and a kanooter valve. Oh and a turbo kit on the floor. When I took my first 99 in for the recall, I asked them to show me where they put the recall status sticker & they couldn't coz it was still in the mod kit box. Re: Should never have to replace... - GDYUP - 29-12-2005 The End............ Re: Should never have to replace... - CAS3234 - 30-12-2005 Pan, I had a lot of drama dealing with Suzuki when I had to have mine rebuilt at 26000k's, you just have to keep the pressure up to them. It took me 3 months of phone calls, emails, letters of demand, etc before they would decide to honour their warrenty, then I had to wait 4 months till the bike was fixed, just hang in there. Maybe you should get your mechanic to call them and varify that the upgrade had not been done, maybe a few Emails to Suzuki head office in Japan might get some action. What ever it takes DO NOT give up, they are in the wrong, they have admitted publically that their cam chain tensioners were defective, yours failed so they HAVE to fix it. For all those who are not sure, this is the oil line you should be looking for. . - spready - 30-12-2005 can anyone tell me what the sticker should look like and where they should have placed it? thanks WTF - Blackkat - 30-12-2005 Hey Cas WTF is that blue thing in front of the oil line????? Is that a recall or something , a Kahooter valve or What. Looks Dangerous..... Leonard. Re: WTF - CAS3234 - 30-12-2005 spready, My sticker is on my tank pivot point, (I am not going out to take more photos) but I have seen them on the frame too. I would just lok for the oil line on the right hand side, you need a 4mm allen key and it will take you all of 5 minutes, tops. Leonard, What is a kahooter valve recall? I called Suzuki and they said it must be an after market product, so I googled after market and I couldn't find them, do you have the number? . - spready - 30-12-2005 how easy is it to get hold of a manual tensioner and to put one on? my bikes got 860000 on the clock and wouldnt know if its been replaced or not, the recall has seemed to be done according to the pic in this thread. any advise is welcomed . - spready - 30-12-2005 yea thanks for that, just did it and oil line is there but no sticker. |
