For the Gixxer 750 i payed $195 for 12m. I think QLD has the cheapest rego. Unless SA or WA are.

Sure doesn't Volvi. Mine was $515.30. What really sucks is it's $501.60 for my Yamaha Tenere 660. Can't say I've seen much evidence of where that $50 surcharge goes.

I didn't think Victorian rego was postcode dependent per se, just rural or metro

what shits me is.!!! our compulsory insurance dosn't cover the rider. rider only covered by the car's insurance.
if you hit a tree/wall/post ect, the pilloin is covered but not the rider. so why does it cost so much. answer rip off
big time. i think the same applys to car drivers

Some of the 3rd party insurers now cover the rider/driver as well.
In NSW we have a new charge for the past couple of years that is supposed to cover the protection of young people seriously injured in accidents for the rest of their life.
I cannot understand that for motorcycles, this fee is over $100 per year but for my car, it is only in the region of $40 per year.
Are they saying that we bikers maim more young people than those in cages?
No, I think they are just taking more money off people who save money by riding. Thats all.

CTP covers the other PERSON only in an "at fault" accident. It does not cover the other person's vehicle or property.
You need to have Third Party Property (TPP) insurance as well to cover the other person's vehicle, but this does not cover you or your vehicle in any way.
OR,
you need to have Full Comp insurance to cover yourself & your vehicle as well.

just got mine today. bear in mind this for a piss ant 250
rego fee 34.60
tac (cpt insurance)290.91
gst 29.09(tax)
insurance duty(tax again)32
total $386.60
somewhere in there is the $50 bike levey(yet another tax)
taxed three times on one invoice

Certificate of registration, for the Sv1000s
Tac premiun... $386.00
Stamp duty ... $38.60
Reg fee ... $34.60
Plate fee ... $14.20
Total = $473.00
Stamp duty for Sv1000 was $315.00
Cheaper to register than my 6 fiddy : by $78.00

Looks to me like the biggest difference between the Qld & the Vic rego is the CTP premium.
All insurance premiums are based on a "user pays" system. The more it's used in a specific area, the higher the premiums for that area.
So to me that says that the Vic riders are useless pricks that can't ride for shit & are constantly claiming on the insurance.
Of course I can't REALLY be classes as a "Vic" member cause I've only been here 12mths. (from Brissy)
& I still pay Qld rego (just rubbing it in)
But then, I probably shouldn't say that.... Cause these guys & gals are pretty damn good. (all the ones I've met anyway)
