Another one... - Throwdown - 08-12-2003 Along with the white Ford Falcon seen on the Parramatta Road, just saw a black Holden Commodore on Bathurst Street in the City. Come to think of it, I've seen Burgundy and Navy Blue Commodores parked outside of Balmain Police Station too. This type of car is the more common one to look out for. If you're caught by a copper in a ute or a hired vehicle, then that's just bloody unlucky.:"> Re: Another one... - demeester - 08-12-2003 Don't laugh, Ressac. Vic cops have trialed unmarked bikes... Ping Rev - GDYUP - 08-12-2003 And trail bikes, eh Rev??? :"> Balmain Police - ressac - 09-12-2003 Back when I was living in fair Randwick and enjoying surfing Maroubra and drinking at the Coog (Coogee Bay Hotel), I had some kit stolen. The Balmain bacon found it for me, but Spec Ops Gp in Redfern were the ones on the case. So anyway, I got a ride in the backseat of the SOG unmarked car. The two SOG dudes were straight out of Hawaii 5-0, and I felt like Bart Simpson when he had the work experience with the cops in the Simpsons. The car? a mistubishi magna station wagon. These lads didn't give a rats about the speed limit either, unless they thought it was a minimum speed limit. Re: Unmarked cars - Fenda - 09-12-2003 Thanks guys for those observations - if I wasn't paranoid before (and I was!) then I am now. Actually, I think this is the Golden Age of Motorcycling ..... roads with bitumen, amazing machinery (eg busas), and the great Aussie climate for riding. And although I couldnt agree more with comments regarding the fund raising element of the crackdown on speeding, and the lack attention to other more important causes of road accidents, I reckon in ten years time 'big brother' will have taken all the fun and excitement out of riding a bike. Speed will be monitored by a GPS system, licences revoked automatically if you're 1 km over, every move will be recorded - noone will be game, or able to, go at any decent speed. Frankly, I think its gonna get much, much worse, so lets make the most of those 200km back roads while we can. Cheers, David dmateer@bigpond.com.au trail bikes ?? - rev 01 - 10-12-2003 Yep GDY, trail bikes too, but they've been doing that for decades :"> Meanwhile, thugs still rule the roost Somebody I know got done for a chipped windscreen & other nit picking bullshit I just said "well, if you drive a nice car, they KNOW you can pay " Then if you complain about thugs ripping your fence to bits to arm themselves for tribal street warfare they treat you like you've got leprosy, way too hard & no revenue in it for the BOLSHIE'S |
