As we hit the 14 weeks to go marker , I thought I was getting prepared by welding up rack mods to carry a 10lt jerry can and Barry surprises us by trading in his smoking old GSX14 on a brand new BMW K1300R.
Well the Queensland boys are getting ready !.Biker

> Ok we have things in motion now with accommodation being sort and

> it up a bit with a couple of half day rides just so we can stop and
> smell the roses and also to allow for any unforeseen circumstances
> that may arise most of the stops are really no brainers with not a lot
> of choice in where we stay. With our Darwin visit we had to make a
> decision on whether to pay over priced accommodation or cheaper accomm
> and less sercurity for only a small over night stay so what we have
> come up with is to get in to Darwin on the 1/5/13 around lunch time
> for a three or four hour break down on the esplanade near the main
> street lunch ,bike shop or just shopping in general then you will see
> we have chosen that nights stay out at Jabiru two hours out of town
> for our loop run back down
The numbers I have secured for accommodation is nearly unlimited in
most cases but at this stage with places like Jabiru I have only secured
enough for 8 but there's no issue with increasing that number at a
latter date if need be no money is required at this stage for
accommodation we will fix it up as we go I will quote prices and
contacts on the list below for each place Our first nights stay will be
worked out between the north and south crews independently

I have spoken to 1 of 2 member's of the Hayabusa Club who lives in
Darwin and may join us for the stay at Jabiru and loop ride up there on
a side note on getting some video on this trip I am hoping Barry will
edit and put together this trip for us to enjoy latter he did such a
great job with the Cairns trip and we didn't even have that much going
on if you have any SD cards at least class 4 and SD Micro cards 16-32g
or even if you want to purchase one to help out with that expense as we
will go through them that would be good.

The last two night's I will be booking will be at the Rock and Coober
Pedy just doing a little more homework with that after that it will be a
case of just winging it and seeing where we are at time wise we wont
have any trouble finding a pub stay after Coober Pedy heading for home.

Also just to Confirm we will need 10 liters Additional Fuel so get
working on that Good to see Russel's got that sorted already.

Hey Strom well after our many yrs of road trips / cannon ball runs
we all will be leaving with the only tyre we have found to be tried & tested
to handle to conditions & make it home in 1 piece.
Michelin Pilot Road 2 ct. Apart from any major problem they will do the trip no problems. The new road 3 is a 2nd option

Hey when you did your run across to WA did you have any fuel station issues ?

barkly homestead- premium pump does not work in the heat of the day.
i forgot somewhere between barkly and katherine there was no premium.
i carry a 5ltr jerry can always. also a bottle of good octane booster might be a good idea.

why is the pilot road 2 is better than road3 or is it difference in price and life?

RE: 2013 , 4 STATES BUSA BLAST TO THE BIG ROCK - TheShredder - 28-01-2013

Hey Storm

The road 2 have proven themselves time & time again thats why we stick to them . The 3's have been tried but havent seen as good results but still better than the soft stuff.

The price of the 2 is usally cheaper than the 3 & it doesnt equal more life at all from what we have found.
Pa King said he wouldnt mind the 3 on front & a 2 on the rear.
The fronts dont really get any real wild milage but the rear is were its at.

I saw the report in your other post about the oe Bt 015 ( 6500 K's )
you must have been taking it easy on her Lol3

I only saw 3500Ks out of mine bris to Tassie & stuffed after 1st day off the boat & heres another 1 of the boys i ride with 4000 Ks general tripping round bit of cannon balling. he limped home 250Ks on it.

Conti road attack 2 3300 ks

Pilot Road 2 ct
Just shy of 11000K on the back of a turbo busa bris to tassie & everywhere inbetween

RE: 2013 , 4 STATES BUSA BLAST TO THE BIG ROCK - storm - 28-01-2013

I get great mileage outs tyres.I weigh only 68 kgs too.smooth roll on is the key, my theory once you are up to warp speeds no worries.its lower gear torque wave that chews tyres.the key is also suspension settings.even on a track day my tyres don't get very distressed. Road ct it is from now on the rear and power 2ct front.

RE: 2013 , 4 STATES BUSA BLAST TO THE BIG ROCK - TheShredder - 28-01-2013

Heres another way to look at the road 2

Track day at EC riding like this all day with an
OE front which on was replaced at 9K paired up with the Road 2 rear

I hear ya
i know 2 brissy guys 1 of which got 20K out of his front OE & the Other Got Over 20 OE front & Rear but hes soft
Most of us are bigger guys than you & are doing trip fully loaded.
Really just got sick of throwing away $ on tyres .

Yep all mine get full suspension set up's done as do a few of the boys.
Driller has run the road 2 rear & power front no worries
I dont mind the road rear with a pure front. Its actually on my Bking & works great

RE: 2013 , 4 STATES BUSA BLAST TO THE BIG ROCK - storm - 28-01-2013
