Re: Burning Question ( what fuel ) - Blackzook - 20-01-2007 Standard unleaded. Thats all it needs. Bruce N2O no laughing matter f*** nos I've got Velocity Re: Burning Question ( what fuel ) - BUSGO - 20-01-2007 For once I disagree with you Bruce. I have tried and tested a dozen different fuels on my bike with various combos of kit and have decided that it never runs as well as on either Vortex 95 or Mobil 95. I'll stick to them now unless I get stuck somewhere. Yes, I know that they may come out of the same container but the bike runs like a rocket on them. I have found that BP can be very unreliable with their fuel around the Hunter Valley. Sometimes it is great and other times it is shit. Rgds BUSGO "TAKE MY ADVICE" I'm not using it anyway! Re: Burning Question ( what fuel ) - Speedzalot - 21-01-2007 Mine was tuned by Cole with Vpower and it made 170 at the wheel so It cant be to bad Arguing with idiots is like wrestling a pig in the mud, you both get dirty but the pig enjoys it! which fuel? - spamanglenn - 21-01-2007 Busgo standard unleaded isn,t 95 octane. Its 91.I myself believe 95 feels good down low.I,ll do a power run with it one day.The tough thing is it is highly likely the wot results won,t vary much but the the part throttle feel is definately different.Perhaps a 10,20 & 40% throttle power/torque readout will show the differences we notice on the bike.Just because suzuki stated a min octane rating of 89 i think don,t think stock unleaded is sweet, its not.RON and MON measurements for fuel from different countries vary greatly to acheive the same average octane number. As busgo said the quality of the fuel here varies quite a bit as well.Interestingly if your road touring with luggage and possibly 2 up in the higher gears, you are more likely to acheive extended detonation and engine damage more so than a drag racer who is racing through the rev range.Hence a road rider may benefit from the factor of safety of higher octane more so than a drag racer.I,ve done a 10.1 on 95vortex with a 1.8 60ft.at 143.8mph.I,ll see what i can do on 98,then 91.I think average mph should tell the story. Re: which fuel? - BUSGO - 21-01-2007 I don't know why you thought that I said standard unleaded was 95 Glenn. I was pointing out to Blackzook that I didn't agree with him about unleaded. As I said, I run 95 whenever I can, prefereably Vortex. BTW. I just got back from a fantastic run down to the Half Way House on the Putty and back. I must say that a fairly stock bike with a TRE and a Yoshi Box remap is unreal on the road. I will also eat humble pie about Braided lines on the busa. They make a good braking bike much better with lots more feel. It appears that the individual lines to the front disks get rid of any shudder as well. Rgds BUSGO "TAKE MY ADVICE" I'm not using it anyway! Re: which fuel? - spamanglenn - 21-01-2007 sorry, too many high octane fumes are blurring my eyes.No one should ever agree with bruce ever, hes cheatin now.I,d still invite him to a track day though to test that fast street bike theory(in a safe environment). Oh great to hear...this is exacltly where I'm headed i.e. A/TRE, RS3's and mixture check/adjust with FF1 while I'm down Melb way for the SBK. Weekend 300km coast ride got me thinking, despite some spirited bursts...never got near redline, so if the airbox flapper valve + PAIR removable mods sacrifice mid-range for ultimate HP, I don't think I'll bother - realistically I live in the mid-range. Mark Canberra's Best Silver/Black K5! Re: which fuel? - spamanglenn - 23-01-2007 bullshit, faster will show you a 4hp increase from 6000rpm up,no mid range loss with airbox mod.Any air fuel changes at part throtlle can be mapped out.Do it and fit the stacks as well. Then we can see what faster can come up with by tuning them. Glenn the Spa Man air fuel changes with tre - spamanglenn - 24-01-2007 The results are in.The tre most definately improves part throttle torque(measured).secondly the tre does next to nothing to air fuel ratios(also measured).Sure your bike may be optimised from stock with a yosh box or a pc but if your bike is already been tuned you don,t need to retune the air fuel to suit the tre.(tested and measured). This was tested at 2,5 and 10% throttle.Any thing over about 20% throttle and the tre advantage is just about nothing. My next question is why does my aussie, smart tre cut out at 10,000rpm and dads ivans tre cut out at 10650rpm and without one my bike cuts out a 10800rpm? Re: air fuel changes with tre - BUSGO - 24-01-2007 Well Glenn, Its like this, my bike needed a remap because I have never had one after fitting the K&N and cans. I suppose my post was misleading but the point I was making was that with these mods and a TRE the bike rocks! As for your bike cutting out with a TRE at early revs, it sounds like you and your dad's TREs are too clever. Mine goes all the way to 10,800. It is a Checkered Flag dumb TRE. I believe it simply tells the ECU that it is in 5th gear all the time. Rgds BUSGO "TAKE MY ADVICE" I'm not using it anyway! smart or stupid? - spamanglenn - 24-01-2007 Not having a go a you busgo in any way.I,m just clearing up some assumptions that i myself made based on what i had heard, but now have the hard facts on.It appears their may be a little more to the tre than people think.Dads is a stock ivans tre(which affects idle).Mines a unbranded smart tre(doesn,t affect idle).I,ve tried both on my bike and they both work.My multimeter doesn,t read up to 6800 ohms so i can,t do a resistance test.I,ll try a voltage test and see if it thinks its in 6th gear (5volts) not 4.7 volts. As for the tyre discussion I was merely showing how much u can lose as you mentioned yours was slipping. Tacho - fasterfaster1 - 25-01-2007 Your TRE is Checkered Brand Glen ...............as for different RPM limits .............. probably Tacho error between two bikes as they are not renowned for their accuracy on the Busa. If using dyno tach, then wheel slip or tyre Diameter difference could well explain it also. Good to see your happy with the results it gives FF1 ping FF1 - monyx - 25-01-2007 Quote:bullshit, faster will show you a 4hp increase from 6000rpm up,no mid range loss with airbox mod.Any air fuel changes at part throtlle can be mapped out.Do it and fit the stacks as well. Then we can see what faster can come up with by tuning them. Looking to decide on the airbox mod and PAIR removal. I am reluctant to change airfilters, there seems to be a lot of debate about the filtering qualities of aftermarket filters - bottom line I want the engine protected, at whatever cost to flow, so the integrity of the filter is paramount. I.e seen claims that K&N let more crap thru, but yes flow more. Again, realling looking to maintain/improve mid-range, not much interest if get a hp at 10k, but less responsive 4-8k. Not worrying about my hp dyno figure, want the torque and response and rideability - max hp means squat to me in real world use - nonethless I do like how the busa goes when given the berries of course! Spose now I'm sounding like I want everything LOL - oh but FF1 you're the guru so I can have it all eh! Not because of your TRE. Rgds BUSGO "TAKE MY ADVICE" I'm not using it anyway! |
