About 15yrs ago I decided to give up on the big HP & working on cars. (I beat Victor Bray once about 25yrs ago at Surfers Paradise raceway)
I do a fair bit of distance driving, so I go for comfort, quiet driving & gadgets.
Currently drive an 08 Honda Legend. Bought it new & new has 90,000klm on it. (has all the extras of a fully optioned Audi & $50k cheaper)
I'm thinking the next one will be a Merc CLS63 AMG 6.3L (used, can't afford a new one). A friend just bought one & I like it.....

Had a beautiful Series 1 - loved it 4.2 twin SU's - handled like ti twas on rails. (often just stopped for no reason at all??) - was too young to inexperienced to work it all out.
Later bought a Series 2 Daimler double 6 - white with full fibreglass body kit, powered by a chev 400. - absolute "Piece of shit" - was reliable, but the chev motor completely stuffed up the balance and handling of the car. - sold it very diss-illusioned.
Should has persistered with the series 1.
I drive an "indestructable toyota" now - all be it a TRD.
One day I will own a red '66 (ish) mustang

I think you've answered your problems mate. One had a Seppo bent 8 in it, (like putting a Harley motor in a Busa) & the other you had when you were young. A Jag shouldn't be owned by a young person, it's destined to be a problem. Stick with a Toyota when you're young & you don't know much about cars & can't afford a decent mechanic.
As for mine, it's a 3.8 with triple SU's. Put's out 200kW in 1964 & Toyota & Holden are bragging about that output now. Plus, it's as reliable as a clock. As I said Cob, you need a good mechanic that know them

Mods so far are:
Vapour Sequential Injection LPG
Ragtop sunroof (Webasto Hollandia 400)
330mm brake upgrade (UPC Melb, off Ebay, brilliant value)
Pacemaker headers and merge pipe twin system exhaust
T5 5 speed manual conversion
Kings V8 low springs/KYB shocks suspension upgrade
17" Ford Territory rims with oversize tyres 225/55 rear/225/50 front
Twinlight headlight conversion
Future mods include an Eaton M122H roots blower, 18" rear/17" front billet rims with even bigger tyres (255/55/18 and 225/60/17), height adjustable premium suspension, 355mm rotor upgrade, an even bigger ragtop, new paint,... umm... etc. But thats all in the future, the big ticket item now is the selling of the barge and the buying of the Busa!

i'm building a hg holden ute original 308 auto kingswood 5 year build allready, fast is in the blood.....only 350+hp lsd 3.55 ratio should be good for about 12s street driven

Been there, done that! LOL. I've owned more cars than the number of years I've been on this earth. Love the "approx" - it gets like that. Got it whittled down to 7 now, including the wife's car.
But I've added a car trailer and a 12ft tinnie to the toy collection now, and I've got the car trailer rented out, so it's not taking up room in the yard, and it's putting $50 a week in my pocket, and I can "borrow" it on weekends if I need it. Awesome!
Dream car atm is a 1928 Model A sedan with FPV F6 engine & driveline. One day...

im a huge car nut had heaps, my cars at the momment is a 700rwhp clubsport and a ta22 celica in the build should b ready in next month or 2 going 4 low 9ns hopefully 8s
