RE: second gear stuffed - busakid08 - 17-09-2009 bad timing between throttle and foot - you only have to be slightly late and end forcing the gears in - not using clutch isnt neccesarily teh culprit either just being heavy footed with the shifter cab bend teh fork selectors .. slamming teh gears doing low gear wheelies also - ...bit like my shit typing :) unless your chain is real slack, 1st & 2nd gear jumping usually means rounded/worn gears and bent forks - bugger eh RE: second gear stuffed - Busaben - 17-09-2009 ![]() (17-09-2009, 07:10pm)busakid08 Wrote: bad timing between throttle and foot - you only have to be slightly late and end forcing the gears in - not using clutch isnt neccesarily teh culprit either just being heavy footed with the shifter cab bend teh fork selectors .. slamming teh gears doing low gear wheelies also - ...bit like my shit typing :) I have never changed gears without using the clutch. My timing maybe out between throttle & foot, but have had many other bikes & never had a problem with second gear. Hopefully on the weekend when I go & see the dealer he will recognise the 2 year 100000km warranty that is still valid with my bike. However after talking to him on the phone I don't like my chances, as I have not had my warranty book stamped for the last 3 intervals. I only have 22000km on the bike & have not missed any major service requirements, as I have serviced the bike myself & kept it in tip top shape, so hopefully he will take this into account. If not, I am prepared to stand out the front of the shop holding a big picture of a lemon beside my bike, letting everyone know not to buy a Suzuki due to the fact that there warranty is none existent. If ony to blow of a little bit of steam! ![]() RE: second gear stuffed - fasterfaster - 17-09-2009 Ben I would say your book not being stamped is going to be your biggest hurdle. The fine print states bike must be serviced by a qualified mechanic. (They used to say it had to be an Authorised Suzuki dealer) At such low kilometeres there should be no problem .............. but if their looking for an out thats what they will use. Just stay persistent and keep at it for there are many that have been knocked back at first then taken it further and finally got results. Good luck and let us know how you go ? PS By all means give your dealer a shot at it but if no luck go higher up the ladder ............ as they say "Don't talk to the shit when you can talk to the shovel" Who says that ? RE: second gear stuffed - busakid08 - 18-09-2009 BTW not having a go at you just giving you some info that I have gathered over 35yrs of riding mate and from what I have seen with so many other riders including myself - I had one of the first ZX10s in the country and went through my first gearbox at 9000km - like suzuki they refused to cough up at first, but after persisting and through some contacts they ended up replacing the gear box and I paid the labour so as said above its worth persisting - when I had my first fireblade in 2002 same problem (caused by wheelies mainly) I had to ring Honda head office and got hold of the service manager after 3 weeks of persistance I got my geabox replaced - point was trying to make to you is: they see gearbox issues as abuse bottom line but do persist and good luck ,,,, and aprt from that I have no idea what age/year your bike is, how many K's (not supplied) or how you ride or who you are so dont really give a f*** :) RE: second gear stuffed - Busaben - 19-09-2009 Nasty ![]() RE: second gear stuffed - GRUNTMAX - 19-09-2009 That's not being nasty Ben, only past experience & LOGIC RE: second gear stuffed - pan - 20-09-2009 (19-09-2009, 11:55pm)GRUNTMAX Wrote: That's not being nasty Ben, only past experience & LOGIC I'm with Ben on this one... giving a person a bunch of advice then telling him you "so dont really give a f*** " sounds nasty to me. RE: second gear stuffed - busakid08 - 21-09-2009 oooooohhh I am hurt, your such a meanie MBTTUYA :) RE: second gear stuffed - Busaben - 21-09-2009 Anyway, took my bike out to Hills motorcycles today to see them face to face ,the service manager there seemed like a nice bloke, said he was on my side and was going to do what ever he could for me. Its in suzuki australia hands now ,he said he would give me a call on Tuesday and let me now the out come ,fingers crossed . RE: second gear stuffed - Astro - 21-09-2009 Ok... from this point forward, lets focus on anything constructive that people can add that might help Busaben. He's out on a limb here, probably feeling a bit vulnerable and I think he could use any tips we can provide. If your comments aren't supportive, constructive or respectful - then they have no place here. RE: second gear stuffed - fasterfaster - 21-09-2009 Ben I would probably find out if they are going to honour warranty before they dismantle bike ![]() ![]() Personally if I was in your neck of the woods and it's not covered under warranty a call to Leonard would probably be your safest and best bet of a quality repair at an honest price. As for the one's that don't give a F--- ![]() ![]() RE: second gear stuffed - Busaben - 21-09-2009 (21-09-2009, 05:26pm)fasterfaster Wrote: Ben I would probably find out if they are going to honour warranty before they dismantle bikeHe asked me if i could leave the bike with him but i thought it would be best to bring it home. When i get it fixed second gear will be undercut i wouldnt want this to happen again .Was thinking maybe some head work and a set of cams as well if i have the cash when its in peaces. |
