I have posted this on another forum, but thought I would open it up here as well.
We have been discussing a group buy for camera mounts for a while. Slic started the ball rolling by contacting a guy in the States that offered a discount for group buy. See attached reply to Slic:

Yes, I would be more than happy to offer you bulk item discount. I have been shipping a lot of mounts down there the last couple of weeks. Shipped off 10 mounts just today.
I can do 1-9 units at a price of $24.00 each and shipping will depend on the weight, which will in turn depend on the number of units. (Estimate - to ship 10 mounts today [3-5 day service] cost $58.00 to New Zealand). Shipping charges are exactly what the USPS charges me, so I cannot offer any discount there.
Let me know how many you want and I will put together a package for you and send you the exact shipping cost via email.
I will also give you a break on the customs form since I know they like to charge on that side.

Let me know what you think people, and we can see if its worth it, remember the price he says is in US dollars, our price is about $31.40 plus frieght.
I am happy with this one, as we have been using the same style in all our filming of rides lately, so I thought I would open the discussion and organise this group buy. It appears that if we get 10 orders, we can get a generous reduction. There would only be one postage cost of $58 US. So all in all, the camera would come in well under the $40 mark.
I will get exact figures when I have final numbers, but I envisage that it should cost around $35.
If you can wait til April, I can bring them up to Queensland personally, so there would be no cost once landed in Australia.

Ok, I have had a response from the guy in the States and he is going to offer the mounts for $18 US. I doubt that you will find a cheaper bike mount anywhere else.
Actual price to you in Australian dollars will be $32. That includes postage to Australia.
So far I have 8 orders. I will leave it for a couple days and then put the order in.
It will also include instructions on how to fit the mount to the bike.

Just to clarify matters. The price of $32 is for the bike camera mount landed in Melbourne. I can then pass them out here without any additional cost. Anyone in Qld, I will be going up there in April, so I can bring them up with me for no additional cost.
As for other states, obviously I will have to send them on to you, and so there would probably be an additional cost to send them within Oz. I dont know the weight of each item, but I would envisage them fitting in those parcel post bags and would probably be another $6 or whatever the bag costs to send them onto you.
I am not making any profit from this, it is all purely what it costs to bring them here and then onto you.
