To Volvi The Wordsmith...................
Posted by: Boss2 - 25-10-2000, 05:34pm - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (8)

You obviously like to play with words Volvi and you obviously like games, when it's not face to face I have noticed also.
Yes Suzuki have done the right thing..........they have recalled and are replacing the units...........the same as they have done four times before, yes this is the fifth modification to the Busa tensioners. So my point is here Volvi, all the boards are jam packed full of tensioner talk the pro's, cons and they better do this and they better do that.Add to the equation that if this tensioner packs up at the wrong time and gives you an engine lock up and spits you down the road you mightn't be around to collect your warranty. With all of these factors weighed up for about the fiftieth time it's got me buggared why on a bike in the 18,000.00 price range one wouldn't just go out and spend $80.00 ............solve any problem that may or may not be there (Now or Later)and forget about all the crap and just ride and enjoy the bike.So in answer to your question Volvi sure you can trust Suzuki.................but if there is a better way to solve the problem with less effort and input..........but then I've noticed some people just like creating problems where there are none hey Volvi !!!!!!
Boss
p.s. In correction of your post Volvi
Two parts to be replaced
No parts to be strengthened ??
Tensioner slipper (alloy)is to be replaced so it matches nose on the new tensioner.New tensioner is steel apparently.
Cams to be removed for removal of tensioner slipper.
External oil line to be added to supply oil to tensioner.
I'll see YOU at the GP

 Fender Eliminator
Posted by: demeester - 25-10-2000, 08:51am - Forum: General Discussion - No Replies

Some of you have seen my bike after I had the Fender Eliminator Kit installed. Warning - to those considering installing this mod - make sure the plate is in the position furthest to the back as possible. When we (Jo was pillioning at the time) went through a (dry) floodway last weekend, the rear wheel impacted the plate, crushing it up under the tail of the bike, and ripping my indicators off.

Action (where I bought the kit, and who installed it) came to the party, and did an excellent repair job. They modified the kit so that the number plate is further back and on a higher angle. They replaced the indicators, and a new plate is in the mail (current one hammered flat ).

Pics available soon, or see it for yourself at the GP.

Well guys I am in the market for a bike preferably a Busa after my initial test run i have my eye on the Busa.
But what i would like to know from sydney busa owners and world busa owners is what would be the best engine oil to use for the busa.?
Would you stick with normal mineral oil or would sinthetic oil be good.?
I would appreciate world wide feed back on this Engine oil subject. Many thanks to you all.

 Sub-frame failure and after-market exhausts
Posted by: AustBusaClub - 18-10-2000, 10:36pm - Forum: General Discussion - No Replies

Evening everyone, I'm still here !

Just updated the site with 2001 colours and the lastest news on the sub-frame failures.

Apparently without the stock muffler housing the sub-frame strength is weakened. Check the new page !

 Podger Re-Subframe !!
Posted by: Boss2 - 18-10-2000, 06:23am - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (1)

Podger I was interested in your comments on sub frame issue regards exhaust removal.I and several other members had looked at the bike the day previous and had come to a conclusion that if your pillion mounts the bike as in the same manner one would mount a horse then the torsional effect that it has on the subframe is considerable. We noticed that even if you merely pressed on the left pillion peg it would flex.....and the left muffler if fitted does add to the rigidity of the mount as it ties it all together so to speak. As a result if you had a person subject there full weight to this then I should imagine the effect is magnified greatly.I personally have never allowed any one to mount in this way as I have seen to many bikes toppled in the process. After market exhausts may also come into the equation I guess also, ie Akro systems don't use original centre mount under bike where Yoshi systems do, so with one the peg mount supports the system the latter only the muffler. This and many other reasons may be the cause I'm not sure, just spinning some ideas here as to why the problem is occuring.
As for margins in production .....there are many vehicles on the road that the windscreen is an integral part of the body strength to the point that if you remove the screen and jack them up they will bend in the body, and also why most cars must be flat towed and not lifted at the front these days, especially after an accident where usually the screen is the first to go. It will be good to get it all sorted out but as is evident there are a lot of factors to be considered and as always to come up with the remedy one must first isolate the cause or causes.
Ride safe and keep the fat of your pillion seat..........maybe in the mean time Suzuki will issue us with those lovely stickers ! No Fat Chicks ....or Snags ! to be stuck on the pillion seat. LMAO Boss Edited by: Boss2 at: 10/18/00 6:33:53 am

.. Just spoke to the head mechanic at Action Sydney - he just received a recall notice for the Cam Chain problem - expect a notice in the mail soon from Suzuki ... and beware strange noises in the meantime! :)

p.s. they're still not committing to the sub-frame break yet ...
