Max file sizes as follows:
Uploading pics from desktop: jpg size max 500kb suggested 100-200kb max largest dimention 640px.
Also if u upload direct from your desktop the pic will be scaled down to a thumbnail for layout purposes. Click the thumbnail to see large pic.
Hotlinking: (eg photobucket), although we can't stop you hotlinking large files we strongly suggest that if you want your pics to stay on the site for a long time that they are not large...around 100-200kb IS possible with any pic without losing much quality at all. See example below...
Avatars: are max 100px x 100px and max size of 270kb and if you are uploading your own then they need to be hosted somewhere like we did on the old Forum and then linked.
Pics in sigs: Use these tags... [ img ]address of image[ /img ] then whatever text you want, in your sig section in User CP (Control Panel) Your pic needs to be hosted somewhere like photobucket for this.
Optimizing/resizing example:
The dog pic below started off at 1.5mb!
I resized it to 600px max size( width or height) and optimised it 75%
It is Now 24kb!
It took about 5 seconds to do and made it super quick to upload the file also.
If you don't know how to do it read a bit. It is a very simple process.
Also a free image resizer is avail here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downl...rtoys.mspx
All you do then is right click your image and choose from the menu as to what size you want the pic...even the dog in the pic can do that!!! lol
Good lick..I mean luck!
If we abide by these guidelines our pics will never have to be pruned and our children can look up here when we are gone and laugh at how stupid we were.
